Döner Republic is opening soon on Florida’s Suncoast — the Sarasota, Venice and Nokomis stretch.

The idea is simple: the döner I grew up eating on street corners in Turkey, with nothing given away on flavour, served at the speed people actually eat lunch. The meat turns on its own axis over open flame. Pide and lahmacun are rolled fresh through the day. Three soups go on in the morning and simmer.

The menu is built around döner, pide, lahmacun, meze and salads, assembled in front of you at the counter.
